Funeral service for Sam Richard Adkins, age 64, of Trinity, will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Nicky Pressnell officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Thomas Family Cemetery.
Mr. Adkins, who died Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital, was born April 18, 1959, in Alabama to Sam Roger Adkins and Mary Dodson Adkins. He was preceded in death by his mother. Mr. Adkins was a member of Neel Church of Christ, where he was a song leader and Bible School teacher. He loved being Papa to his three grandchildren, and spending time with family and his Dachshund, Lola. He loved spending time in God’s creation and mowing the yard, Watching Alabama football and being a servant of the Lord for his church, family, and others were also joys in his life.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Thomas) Adkins; two daughters, Michelle Prince (Joe) and Rachel Dixon (Brandon); father, Roger Adkins; brother, Mac Adkins (Kim); two sisters, Amy Meherg and Cindy Webster (Randy); and three grandchildren, Boone Thomas Prince, Hannah Kate Dixon, and Amelia Rose Dixon.
Pallbearers will be Ben Meherg, Blake Meherg, Scott Randolph, Randy Webster, Joe Prince, Brandon Dixon, and Sam Webster. Honorary pallbearer will be Andrew Adkins.
