Bobby Duel “Bob” Horton, 88, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born in Vina, AL to Roy A. and Lucille Gober Horton. He graduated from Vina High School in May of 1952 and right after moved to the Chicago area for work. He married his wife, Ruby Humphries on September 16, 1961, six months after meeting her on a blind date. He eventually moved back to Alabama where he raised cattle and owned several small businesses over the years. He loved his family, talking to people and Auburn sports.
Graveside services will be Sunday, March 3, 2 p.m. at Burnout Cemetery, Vina, AL with burial in Burnout Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a son, Eric Horton; brother, Roy M. Horton (Maxine); special nephew, Tony Horton; special niece, Pam Andrews and brother-in-law, Terry Humphries.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Humphries Horton, his parents and a brother, James Horton.
