Sam Bennett, 83, of Machesney Park, died on Sunday, May 24, 2020. Born on September 29, 1936, in Rockton, IL. He was the 4th son of Robert and Virginia (Lovelace) Bennett. He own & operated Sam Bennett’s Body Shop in the 80’s. He was a devoted father who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Sam had a grin on his face, a love for life and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed attending car shows with his son’s Terry & Jim. He loved eating out at local restaurants, watching wrestling & the Chicago Bears. He is survived by children: Robin (David) Aurand; Terry Bennett; Sandra (Elmo) Favors and Jim Bennett; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Brother’s Dennis Bennett and Doug (Jane) Bennett, Marlys Smith (friend & mother of his children), “aka Girl Friend” Kay; lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Charles Jr., parents and brothers Willis, Jack and Brian.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
