Sally Joan Nelson, age 87, of Greenbrier passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Maple Cottages in Portland. She was born January 22, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Britt Allen & Verda Johanna Malloy Dains. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of The Church of the Firstborn. She enjoyed taking walks with her husband before his death, sewing, flower and vegetable gardening and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Lee Nelson. She is survived by her daughter, Jill (Michael) Hoff, Greenbrier, TN; son, Roderick Loren (Verna) Nelson, Argyle, Iowa; sister, Susan Stewart, White House, TN; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. There are no services or visitation scheduled. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are encouraged to Dayspring Academy in her memory.
