Ryan Daniel Young – Obituary

Ryan Daniel Young, age 17, of Florence passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012. Ryan was a native of Lauderdale County and a senior at Wilson High School.

Visitation with family and friends will be Thursday October 11, 2012 from 5– 9 p.m. at Christ Chapel. The funeral service will be Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Christ Chapel. Friends may come from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ricky Smith and the Rev. Chris Montgomery. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Ryan had a love of music and a great desire to be a music producer. His other passion was for drag racing. He spent many Thursday nights at the North Alabama drag strip. He created the phrase “Got Rice”?
Ryan was preceded in death by his great grandfathers, James Young, William T. Hale, and Alvin G. Carter; special friend, Kevin Hughes.
He is survived by his father, Derrill Young and step-mother, Jessica Young; mother, Melanie Cohoon and step-father, Brian Cohoon; brother, Damien Tompkins Young; grandparents, Larry and Donna Young, Jerry Carter, Kathy Carter; great grandparents, Lena Hale, Movaline Young, Mary Carter, Loye and Madeline Green; aunt, Leigh Ann Peters (Greg); uncle, Jeremy Carter; first cousins, Chaney and Chandler Peters; special friends, D.J. Rickard and Brooks Connor; the love of his life, Katie Caldwell; and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Pallbearers will be D.J. Rickard, Brooks Conners, Rusty Stanford, Rich Griggs, Drew Higdon, and Jeremy Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be his senior class mates at Wilson High School.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JAG Scholarship in memory of Ryan Young at Wilson High School.
