Senior Airman Ryan Apollo Morgan, 32, of Goldsboro, N.C., passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.

Morgan was born June 16, 1984, at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. Apollo first served in the United States Marine Corps as Amphibious Assault Vehicle Repair Technician from 2004 to 2008. Morgan deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom three times, all of them in Fallujah, Iraq.

In 2013, Apollo decided to serve his country again and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon graduation, he was selected as 6C031, a Contract Specialist. After completing technical school at Lackland AFB, Texas, he was assigned to the 4th Contracting Squadron, Seymour Johnson AFB, where he served in the Services and Commodities Flight.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, in the Collins-Burke Funeral Home Parlor from 6 until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, in the Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Jonathan Timmons will officiate.

Morgan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Denna Davis; grandmother, Jewel Davis; grandmother, Rose Anne Burg; grandfather, Melvin Morgan; and uncle, Eddie Morgan.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Davis Burg (John C. Burg, Jr.); father, Melvin Reggie Morgan (Monica); brothers, Jason Kyle Morgan and John C. “Trey” Burg III; sisters, Makenzie Morgan and Abbey Morgan; grandfather, James E. Davis (Jimmie Sue Norris); John C. Burg Sr.; sister-in-law, Kendra Burg; and nephew, John C. “J.C.” Burg IV.

Pallbearers will be Sam Spencer, Chris Coggins, Kyle Morgan, Trey Burg, Nick Freeman, Robbie Henderson, Nate Groce and Lawrence Nicklas. Dexter Freeman and Brett Sparks will serve as honorary pallbearers.
