Ruth Slaughter, 95, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Leedy, MS to Willie and Myrtle Howel Hamilton and was retired as a seamstress. She attended Altar Baptist Church.
Services will be Wednesday, August 3, 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. J.C. Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by five children – Charlie Hicks (Pauline), Ellen Bohannon, Lucille Bryson, Jackie Hicks and Hollis Hicks (Janet); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Tommy Hicks, a grandson, Kevin Hicks, a great-grandson, Rodney “Spider” Holley, two brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be James Page, Devin Nichols, Hayden Nichols, Brian Upton, Jeremy Holley and Randal George.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 3, 2-4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
