Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalms 1:1-2

Mrs. Ruth Seay, daughter of the late Fred and Magnolia Thomas, was born April 12, 1924 in Athens, Georgia. Mrs. Seay was the last surviving member from this union. She entered eternal rest on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Alabama.

Mrs. Seay was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she accepted Christ at an early age.  She married Edward Seay on March 13, 1943. In December, Edna Jean was born. In 1945, they moved to River Rouge, Michigan. In 1947, Shirley Ann was born.  Rev. and Mrs. Seay resided in Inkster, Michigan until moving to Huntsville, Alabama in 1990.

Mrs. Seay was a member of St. Luke Christian Church, Huntsville, Alabama and served on the Mother’s Board.  Prior to becoming a member of St. Luke Christian Church, Mrs. Seay served as a faithful member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Harvest, Alabama for many years. She was dedicated in supporting her husband, Rev. Seay, in her role as a Pastor’s wife and mentored others through her participation with the Interdenominational Minister’s Spouse’s Association. Mrs. Seay was the epitome of fashion with her attire and hats. She enjoyed shopping, word search puzzles, watching court television, and reading her Bible daily.  She loved God and will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God.

Mrs. Seay was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Edward Seay; daughter, Shirley Ann Spencer; and all five of her siblings. Mrs. Seay leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Edna Jean Hicks of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Harry Leroy Hicks, III of Huntsville, Alabama; DJ Hicks (Susan Craigie) of Vancouver, Canada; Carmela Hicks of Goose Creek, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Adriana Hicks, Alex Leary, and Antonia Hicks, all of Goose Creek, South Carolina; great-great-grandchildren, Xavier Clark, Aaliyah Clark, and Liam Hicks, all of Goose Creek, South Carolina; one special nephew, Rev. Theodis Acklin of Huntsville, Alabama; and a host of other relatives and friends.
