Ruth Pickett, 95 years of age, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 30, 2023. She was born on February 23, 1927, and lived her early years in various communities of McNairy County. Upon high school graduation, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee and was a switchboard operator, and later a technician, for South Central Bell Telephone Company, which later became known as AT&T, from which she retired.
She is survived by daughters Wanda Jean Pickett of Somerville, TN, Charlotte (Nickie) Harris of Lexington, TN, grandchildren: Caleb Pickett and wife Michelle of Maryville Tennessee, Hannah Beth Pickett of Memphis, TN, Sean DeCaro of Memphis, TN, Trent Harris and wife Kesha of Jackson, TN, and Blake Harris and wife Susan of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters Faye Owen of Destin, FL, Vickie Whitaker and husband David of Midlothian, TX; six great grandchildren: Gracie and Frankie Rose of Memphis, TN, Kayla DeCaro of Memphis, TN, Leah Harris of Jackson, TN Hadley and Hudson of Murfreesboro, TN.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Don Timothy Pickett, and her parents Bob and Jewell Milford; three brothers, Joe Neal, Welton, and Jim Milford.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 1:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. held at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer, TN. Interment will follow at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Samaritan’s Purse or Gideon International.
