Funeral service for Ruth Phyllis Nixon Reeder, age 95, of Decatur, will be Sunday, March 6, 2016 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ben Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 12 :30p .m. until 2:00 p .m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Reeder, who died Monday, February 29, 2016, at her home, was born December 21, 1919, in Conway, Iowa, to George Linford Nixon and Cordice Mae Mason Nixon. She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Reeder; her parents; her brothers George Darryl Nixon and Ted Eugene Nixon.
Mrs. Reeder was a member of Southside Baptist Church and Gideons International.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Reeder Dixon (Kurt) of Decatur, AL, and Kathy Reeder Holland (Wesley) of Somerville, AL. Three Grandchildren, Joshua Holland (Bree) Chad Holland (Kim) and Kristopher Dixon; one great granddaughter Charlie Ruth Holland; one brother Jack Nixon, Tarkio, MO; one sister-in-law Creta Reeder, Ridgeway, MO.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Holland, Chad Holland, Kristopher Dixon. Bret Holland, Ben Holland, and Zac Merritt.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that memorial donations be made to Southside Baptist Church Music Ministry , Gideons International, Edwin L. Hodges Ministeries or AlaCare Home Health.
