Ruth Nell Pitts Ricks, age 90, of Tuscumbia, died Tuesday,
Dec. 4, 2012. The family will receive friends Friday, 11-1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. Her graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia, with Barrett Long officiating.
Mrs. Ricks taught mathematics over twenty-five years at Deshler High School and Northside Middle School. She was member of First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, where she taught Sunday school.
She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Charles P. Ricks of Tuscumbia; son, Charles P. Ricks Jr., and wife Donna of Muscle Shoals; daughter, Dora Ann Ricks Taylor and husband Walt of Mobile; sister, Dorothy Ann Cash of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Gene Autry, Dr. Justin Parden, Gib Finch, Dr. Walt Taylor, Joe Finch and George Carpenter.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Larry Carmichael and Dr. Randy Pounders, Dr. Karl Hagler and the staff, 3rd floor Helen Keller Hospital.
