Ruth Naomi (Hill) Gilliam, age 80, entered her eternal home on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center Skill Care. A native of the Oak Grove community, she was born on June 15, 1940 to the late Preston and Dorothy (Stephens) Hill. Ruth was a faithful and active member of White Oak Grove Church of God until illness prevented her from attending. She was a dedicated homemaker devoted to her husband and their six children. She enjoyed playing (and beating everyone) at Poker-Keeno, doing word search puzzles, traveling with her husband in their motorhome, spoiling her grandchildren, traveling to the beach and Pigeon Forge, and eating out. At any time of the day, you could find her watching game shows, especially Family Feud and The Price is Right. Before her health declined, she would spend many hours preparing meals for her family, especially around the holidays. Her specialty was fried corn and Thanksgiving dressing. She was a strong woman who overcame many health issues and challenges in life. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Gilliam, her son, Tony, and three brothers, Tommy, Harold, and David Hill. She is survived by her loving children Michael (Tammie) Gilliam of Decherd, Jeff Gilliam of Winchester, Tim (Melissa) Gilliam of Decherd, Amy (Roy) Greer of Decherd, and Brittany (Casey) Vaughan of Sewanee, and daughter-in-law Patricia Gilliam. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Laura, Holly, Justin, Jonathan, Jordan, Amanda, Christin, Emma, Jami, Reagan, and Hudson, and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters; Rosetta (Charles) Seals of Winchester, Sybil (William) Walls of Decherd, and Wilma Hill of Cowan, sister-in-laws Pam Hill of Estill Springs, Janice Hill of Rock Island, Barb Willoughby of Manchester, and Betty Jo Lachappelle of Georgia, an aunt who was more like a sister, Odus Walls Hart, and a loving caregiver and friend, Paula Wright. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Curtis and Rev. Matt Hastings officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 1st Ave. NW, Winchester, TN 37398, 931-967-2222
