Graveside services for Mrs. Ruth Medley, age 79 of Ashland, were held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Clay County Memory Gardens with Pastor Keith Jones officiating.
Mrs. Medley passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at her home. She was born in Talladega, but is a lifelong resident of Clay County. Mrs. Medley worked most of her life at the Clay County Hospital as a dietary Manager, and also at the Clay County Elementary and High School as the Lunchroom Manager. She enjoyed being outside, tending to her flowers, being in the mountains and reading. She loved her dog Suzie as well as other animals. When Mrs. Medley worked as the lunchroom manager, she loved being around the kids in the lunchroom. She was attending First Assembly of God in Ashland.
Mrs. Medley is survived by four daughters: Brenda Brand (Thomas) of Oxford, Diane Denney (Ronnie), Mary Rollins, and Amy Mitchell (Randy), all of Ashland; 8 grandchildren: Chanda Reaves (Michael), Kim Ashley (Chris), Adam Rollins (Miranda), Tyler Rollins (Tandi), Clint Brant (Sarah), Erin Perry (Jonathan), Katelyn Shook (Tyson), and Kara Hubbard (Tony); 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Randy Stockdale (nancy) of Salem, Oregon and Tommy Knope (Delilah) of Ashland; plus extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Whitson Stockdale and Louise Knop; her husband, John Thomas “J.T.” Medley; one sister, Helen Stockdale; and her step-father, James Knop.
Active Pallbearers will be Randy Mitchell, Ronnie Denney, Adam Rollins, Tyler Rollins, Jonathan Perry, and Tony Hubbard.
Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
