Ruth Lee, age 80 of Scottsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1 of 2026.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lee; parents, David & Fannie Frazier; and brother, Alan Frazier.
Though her family moved often due to her father’s military service, she would later make Scottsboro her forever home. Mrs. Lee was known for her dedication to the Scottsboro school system as the secretary and bookkeeper for Page Elementary and later Collins Intermediate. Here, she greeted many faces over the years and brought a light to the numerous parents, staff members, and students who entered the front door. Mrs. Lee was also a faithful and life-long member of Limrock United Methodist church where she was involved in Ladies club and served in the Children’s ministry. After over twenty plus years in the school system, Mrs. Lee would enjoy her retirement with her husband Hugh as they spent their time making memories with friends and loved ones.
She will be cherished by the following family members: Brothers, Wendell (Annette) Frazier and Danny Frazier; Children, Darren (Connie) Lee and Becky (Adam) Smart; Grandchildren, Whitney (James) Seymour, Drake Lee; and Great-Grandchildren, Atlas & Ollie Seymour.
Funeral services will take place at Scottsboro Funeral Home where family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 5:00pm-8:00pm for visitations along with a service the following day, Monday, July 6, 2026 starting at 11:00am. Ruth will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, AL following the service.
Ruth will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and steadfast love for her family, church, and community. Her smile and kindness touched the lives of so many and her memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
