Ruth Katharine Staten Scarberry, 90, of Haleyville, joined her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.
Mrs. Scarberry was born on August 30, 1924 in Pie, West Virginia. Ruth was a member of Cyrus Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from Owen Illinois Glass Factory with 35 years of service. Ruth enjoyed singing in the choir, and was a member of the Good News Quartet.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 1-2pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, AL. with services being held at 2pm with Brother Tom McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Brillie Scarberry; sons, David Swann and his wife Patty, Charles Scarberry his wife Kathy, William Scarberry; daughter, Joan Carr and her husband Tim. She was “Honey” to 8 grandchildren, Tricia Toney, Kristy Martinez, Jeanna Etherington, Samantha Gibbs, Joseph Scarberry, Dustin Scarberry, Brittany Cutler, and Michael Scarberry; 7 great grandchildren, Genesis, Jadyn, Christian, Landen, Abigail, Jacksen, and Delilah; neice, Francis Nash and her husband Willis and niece Jane Charlton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers.
