Ruth Gisele Greer Whitsett passed from this life on August 19, 2026 surrounded by both of her daughters. She was a faithful member of New Mt Bethel Methodist Church and cherished her faith above all else.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Whitsett and her parents Braska and Mildred Greer and an infant sister.
Survivors include her daughters Miranda (Kyle) Davis and Melanie (Josh) Pope. Her grandchildren Katelyn Pope, Zac Pope, Evelyn Davis, and Stella Davis and her loyal companion Bella. Her sisters Wanda Belue and Janet Jeffers; her brother-in-law Steve Whitsett and sister-in-law Becky Gibson. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Ruth lived out her faith through a life of service and kindness. She was especially devoted to caring for her senior friends, often bringing them food, checking on them, and simply making sure they knew someone cared. She believed that even the smallest act of kindness could be a way to show the love of Jesus, and she faithfully lived that belief.
Above all, Ruth loved her family dearly, and she held a special place in her heart for her four grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She was a woman who believed in speaking the truth and was never afraid to say what needed to be said—whether you wanted to hear it or not. Her honesty, strength, and unwavering love were just a few of the qualities that made her so unforgettable.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21 from 11am until noon with a graveside service immediately following at Miller Cemetery. Kyle Davis will officiate.
