Ruth Geraldine “Jerri” Noblitt Lovell – Obituary

Ruth Geraldine “Jerri” Noblitt Lovell, age 93 of Athens, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Lovell was born on February 8, 1924 in Shelbyville, TN to Henry and Ruth Hargis Noblitt.

Mrs. Lovell was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bennie Belue Lovell; parents, Ruth Hargis Noblitt and Henry Malone Noblitt; sisters, Henrietta Lucille “Lucy” Grisham Clanton and Clarice Adelle “Doodie” Noblitt; brother, Clem Hargis “Bud” Noblitt and granddaughter, Rachel Looney and husband Andrew Looney.

Mrs. Lovell is survived by her daughters, Sandra Stockton and husband John of Athens, AL and Joan Barnes and husband Bobby of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Dawn Blakely (Andy), Gelia McWhirter, Erin Moran (Anthony), Anna Leigh Peacock (Donnie), Dustin Cook (Miranda), Jessica Smith (Chris), Martha Alford (Eric), Margaret Itony (Paul), Elizabeth Stockton, Sara Stockton, Anne Garrett (Andy), ; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and 1 on the way; brother, Luke Avery Noblitt(Doris) of Athens, AL and special caregiver, Isabel Moore.

Mrs. Lovell was a charter member of Lovell’s Chapel Church of Christ, Salem Church of Christ, and Jackson Drive Church of Christ. She was an elementary teacher at Carriger (one room school), a strong supporter of Athens Bible School, and owner of Lovell Building and Supply.

Services for Mrs. Lovell will be Sunday, March 26, 2017at 3:00PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Joey Curtis officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:45. Burial will take place in Sandlin Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jake McWhirter, Landon McWhirter, Logan McWhirter, Luke Johnson, Austin Ball and Noah Moran. Honorary pallbearers are Shelby Moran, Ben Blakely, Alexander Cook, Madilyn Cook, Easton Smith and Max Garrett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
