Ruth Christian Smith, 83, of Union Hill Community passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband Luther Smith, sons Stanley and James Smith, sisters Ann Hubbard and Wynelle Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Linthicum (Sam), Janice Jones (Ray) and Melody Smith, son Byron Smith (Loretta), seven grandchildren, Rebecca Pruitt, Hannah Snider, Angela Daniels, David IIges, Tonya Evans, Steve Linthicum and Colby Giers, great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ikard, Emily Gates, Ashley Walter, Jessika and Grace Ilges, Shelby and Jorja Linthicum, Nathanael and Bithiah Pruitt, sister Linda Murphy, brother Larry Christian, son-in-law, Sam Taylor and special friend Lou Ellen Neuss. Visitation will be Monday, January 13, 2014 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. Funeral will be Monday at 2:00pm at Berryhill Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
