On Friday evening, June 23, 2023, Ruth Benson Anderson, 81, resident of Falkner, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. A Graveside Service honoring the life of Mrs. Anderson will be at 11 AM Monday, June 26 at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery near Walnut with Bro. Don Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Sunday, June 25 at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anderson was born February 23, 1942 in Covington, TN, the daughter of the late James C. and Velma Hodges Benson. On August 18, 1956, she married her beloved husband, John T. Anderson, Sr who preceded her in death on November 14, 2002. Mrs. Anderson will be remembered by many in the community as a bank teller for CB&S Bank in Walnut for many years before retiring.
A member of Oakland Baptist Church, Mrs. Anderson was a devout Christian lady who loved her church and church family. She was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed reading Amish literature. Hobbies included cross-stitching, gardening and tending to her beautiful yard. Mrs. Anderson loved her family and was blessed with many wonderful grandchildren that she cherished every opportunity visiting.
Precious memories will continue to be shared by three daughters, Rebecca Whitehead and Lisa Richerson (Anthony), both of Walnut, Rhonda Jackson of Falkner, two sisters, Linda Owen of Walnut and Jennie Cox (Ronnie) of Nashville, TN, one brother, John Benson of Millington, TN, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Simon, her son, John T. “Bubba” Anderson,Jr., a brother, Robert Benson, a grandson, Jonathan Robertson and a great granddaughter, Ariel Leann Garcia.
