Rusty has won his long battle with cancer and entered into his eternal home that he was promised by God. He departed from Optum Hospice Services in Irondale, AL. He was surrounded by much loved family and friends. Rusty ministered to an inspired many in the last years of his life. He was more concerned with the faith and well being of people around him than he was his own well being to to the very end.
Rusty was the youngest of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Miles White, father William R. Miles, Sr., brother Randall White, and niece Stephanie Miles.
He is survived by his children, daughter Dusty Miles (fiance Cole Fulmer) and son Brady Miles. Second father Paul White, sisters Sarah Rowland and “brother-in-law” Kirk Rowland, Rose Miles, Carolyn Gray (Ricky), Connie Shuttlesworth, and Pat Murphree (Joe), brothers William R. Miles, Jr. and “sister-in-law” Karen Miles, Thomas Miles, Clarence Miles, Clyde Miles, Ronald White (Debbie) and several nieces and nephews.
Rusty was also blessed with a second family. He was adopted and very much loved by Dilworth Church of God in Empire, AL where he was a member and Assistant Resident Manager of their Crossroads Men’s Center.
Rusty’s Brothers in Christ were Rev. Darryl Gurganus, Rev. Frankie Decatur, Bro. Richard Cooper, Bro. Buddy Ballenger, Rev. Ruel Phillips and Bro. Terry Gross. Also, his Brothers and Sisters at Dilworth Church of God and the Dilworth Celebrate Recovery Program.
A celebration of Rusty’s life will be Sunday, February 14 at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Family will meet at 3:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow. Rev. Nelson Kimberly (Senior Pastor of Dilworth Church of God and Executive Director of the Crossroads Men’s Center) and William Miles will officiate. Burial will be Monday, February 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Allen Methodist Cemetery in Glen Allen, AL
Pallbearers are Rev. Lee Leatherwood (Dilworth Children’s Pastor), Stan Flynn (Resident Manager-Crossroad’s Men’s Center), Robert A. Maddox (Assistant House Manager C.R.M.C.) and Tymothy Kendrick, Kenneth Lawley, and Dock Selby, Members of C.R.M.C.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Spain, Joshua Parvin, Shawn Clements and Spydur Fhenix (Members of the C.R.M.C.)
