Russell ‘Rusty’ Dale Oliver, 61, of Huntsville, AL passed after a tragic accident on Friday, February 20,2026. Rusty was born in Boulder, Colorado on September 21,1964 to James and Julie Oliver, who then raised him and his three brothers in Baton Rouge, LA, before moving to Huntsville, AL. Rusty graduated from UAH with a double major in Chemistry and Biology in 1989. He furthered his education by earning an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy, a bachelor’s in nursing and a Masters in Nurse Anesthesia. It only took until 2002….19 years of schooling and practice.
He was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Decatur Morgan Hospital for many years.
Rusty will always be remembered as someone who was unapologetically himself, one-of-a-kind, a natural comedian even if no one ever understood his jokes. A massive LSU fan who loved his family, puppies, and anything with sugar.
Rusty was preceded in death by his father James Oliver and mother Julie Oliver. Rusty is survived by a wife, Jeanette “Jennie” Oliver; three children, Tucker Oliver, Bailey Oliver (fiancé, Mackenzie Groves), and Sarah Jordan Oliver; three brothers, Robert Oliver (Deadra), Steve Oliver (Julie), and Stanley Oliver (Conna).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the memorial service following at 12:00PM.
In honor of Rusty’s determination that life should be casual, constantly telling people “just put on a hat!”, we ask that you dress in jeans, or your favorite purple and gold for his favorite team.
