Russell Oliver Tanner, Jr., 83 of Dora, passed away Sunday Feb. 23, 2025.
Mr. Tanner was a Deacon and member of Liberty Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired coal miner from Jim Walter Resources and was a member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Martha Tanner.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Peggy Salter Tanner; daughters, Starla Broadhead and husband Richard and Melissa Cundiff and husband Greg; grandchildren, Jordan Tanner Broadhead (Hope), Ethan Taylor Broadhead and John Russel Cundiff; great grandchild, Jonah Lee Cundiff; sisters, Charlotte Graham (Hoke), Carolyn Quinn and Debi Fowler; special nephew, Keith Lee Quinn; several other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Feb. 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Ministers Roger Miller and Charles Kitchens will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Wednesday from 1-3 pm.
