Rufus Allen South – Obituary

rufusRufus Allen South, 81, of Waterloo, Ala., passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. He was a native and long resident of Lauderdale County. He was a member of Murphy’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Carpenters local No. 1209, Florence Wagon Club with John (Buck) South and Willard South. He was retired as a carpenter from Reynolds Metals.
Visitation will be noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, with the service following at 3 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with Jimmy Shields, Charles Lyman and Chad Balentine officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Clara South; sister, Eva Leigh; and brother, James South.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marcella Wallace South; sons, Roger (Kim), James, Randy (Cheryl), Ricky (Teresa), Steven (Stacey) and Phillip (Nikki) South; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; and special pet, Bingo.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris, Jeremy, Michael, Matthew, Wesley and Justin South. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Brown, Billy Hill, Vernon Allison, Wayne Haggard, Tommy Abrams, Ronnie Murphy and Willard South.
