Ruby Wadyne Newman, age 88, of Ashland City, Tennessee, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at NHC in Dickson.
Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 1:00PM on Saturday, March 11th, with Bro. Gene Parton, Bro. Jackson Watts, and Bro. Caleb Lewis officiating. Ministering in music will be soloist, Sarah Davison. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Justin Ruffin, Austin Ruffin, Chris Ruffin, Daniel Biggs, Leon Newman, and Roy Newman serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 10th, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Saturday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Mrs. Newman was born on August 17, 1934, in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late John H. Sr. and Gracie Mae Pursley. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, canning, and family. She was a member of Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Thomas Newman; sisters, Mildred Newman, Carolyn Parker, and Christine Newman; brothers, Willard Pursley, John Henry Pursley, Jr., Simon Pursley; and son-in-law, Terry Ruffin.
Survivors include her daughters, Pat Ruffin and Reba (Ricky) Ruffin; brothers, Eugene (Annie Claire) Pursley and Willie (Brenda) Pursley; sisters, Shirley Holt and Annie Hornburger; grandchildren, Christopher Ruffin, Amanda Ruffin, Justin (Ashley) Ruffin, and Austin (Ashley) Ruffin; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ruffin, Christen Ruffin, Brooklyn Patterson, Ryan Ruffin, and Wyatt Ruffin.
