Ruby Underwood Rusoe – Obituary

RubyRuby Underwood Rusoe, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at her home. She was born December 20, 1921, in Prentiss County to John Sidney and Sula Belle Stanford Underwood. She worked at Lucky Star in Fulton and the Mantachie shirt factory. She then stayed home to care for her parents and children. She was a member of the Mantachie Homemakers Club for many years. She was an active member of the Mantachie United Methodist Church since 1954. She was an outstanding seamstress and enjoyed quilting, ceramics, and cooking for her family. She had a passion for cooking and decorating cakes that left many great memories for all she loved. She enjoyed volunteering and spending time with her special friends at the Mantachie Senior Citizens Center over the years. She was a dear sweet lady who was loved and cherished by her family and friends.

Services will be at 11 a. m. Thursday, June 27, at the Mantachie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Schwake and the Rev. Ronnie Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jane (Roy) Smith and Geneva (Joe) Malone; her son, Richard Rusoe; her brother, Howard (Shirley) Underwood; her sister, Annette (Ray) Smith; 11 grandchildren, Barry (Judy) Rusoe, Rodney (Sandra) Rusoe, Ramona (Bradley) Smith, Cathy (John) Pollock, Larry Smith, Billy Joe (Janice) Smith, Roger (Becky) Smith, Barbara (Michael) Taylor, Michele Moran, Tim (Karen) Malone, and Jeff Malone; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, S. T. Rusoe; her parents; her siblings, Ray Underwood, Jackie Franks, and Zera Yielding; and one granddaughter, Becky Smith.

Pallbearers will be Corey Smith, Lonnie Smith, Eric Rusoe, Kevin Rusoe, Justin Kilgo, and Lance Corporal Trae Rodgers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Wednesday, June 26, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie and from 10 a. m. until service time Thursday at Mantachie United Methodist Church.
