Graveside services for Mrs. Ruby Sellers Duke, age 92, of Lineville were held Monday September 28, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lineville City Cemetery with Elvis North Officiating.
Mrs. Duke passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Lineville Health & Rehab. Born in Randolph County, she met and married James W. Duke. They moved to Lineville where James started Duke’s Jewelry. Ruby worked at Higgins Slacks for a few years, then began helping James in his business. James became a minister and Ruby was an essential part of the ministry as well as in the day to day operations of Duke’s Jewelry. Ruby loved to sew, read her Bible, cook great meals, and bake cornbread and sourdough bread. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ruppel (Jack) of Lineville, her son, J. Richard Duke of Birmingham and her foster son, Rodney Williams (Carol) of Birmingham; two grandchildren, Ryan Duke of Auburn and Jeremy Duke (Nikita) of Muscle Shoals; four great-grandchildren, Aubrie Duke, Bentley Duke, Adleigh Duke and Zaralee Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Sellers and Martha E. Mize Sellers; her husband of 67 years, Rev. James W. Duke; one sister, Lily Baker; and three brothers, Leon, Guy, and Leo Sellers.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lineville or to SIFAT.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of arrangements.
