Ruby McCully Sherfey, at age 91, met her Creator on Sunday, June 12, 2022 in Tupelo. Born October 4, 1930 in Lee County to the late Millard McCully and Lillie Putt McCully, she was the widow of Emmett Sherfey who died April 4, 1975. She was a graduate of Plantersville High School. Ruby Nell was one more classy lady always dressing to the 9’s and was often called Ms. Estee’ Lauder. She worked her entire working career in the medical field. A lovely soul, she touched many lives over her years and was particularly beloved by her daughters and extended family.
A brief graveside prayer service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Tupelo Memorial Park on Joyner St. The family will receive friends afterwards at the cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their longtime friends.
Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Sherfey of Tupelo and Sherry Sherfey Lockhart and her husband, Jack of Birmingham, Ala. one grandson, Dr. Mark Lockhart and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Lockhart and 3 great grandchildren, Haley, Ryan and Jack R. Lockhart her only brother, Dr. Alva Carl McCully, 94, of Tallahassee, Fla. whom she spoke by phone with several times per day and his family. Other cousins and relatives survive in the area.
