Ruby Jane Murphy Hays – Obituary

Ruby Jane Murphy Hays age 86 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mrs. Hays was born November 24, 1930 in Limestone County, AL to George Boman Murphy and Ruby Lindsey Murphy.

Services will be Friday, October 27, 2017 3:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Henry Carter and Brian Murphy officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred William Hays; brothers, George E. Murphy, Charles F. Murphy and Joe R. Murphy; sister, Elizabeth Ann Cannon.

Survived by two sons, Fred William Hays, Jr. and John David Hays and wife, Vickie all of Athens; three grandsons, William Skyler Hays and wife, Haley, Landon Blake Hays and wife, Haley and Collin Murphy Hays and wife, Shaina all of Athens; five great-grandchildren, William Levi Hays, Sadie Grace Hays, Barron Elizabeth Hays, Bristol Blake Hays and Murphy Jane Hays all of Athens; two sister-in-laws, Joyce Murphy and Jeanette Murphy; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Reitzel Murphy, Virgil Murphy, Mike Murphy, Kent Murphy, Boman Murphy, Billy Cannon and Joe Cannon.

Mrs. Hays was a member of Tanner Church of Christ. She was previously secretary and president of The Murphy Cotton Company. Mrs. Hays, a hard worker and brilliant business woman was always taking care of others (especially Freddy) before thinking about herself.
