Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruby Faye Johnston Griffith, age 79 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffith passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Lineville Health and Rehab. She was born and raised in Clay County, and spent her early years in the Shinbone Valley, one of her favorite places to visit. She worked for several years at Southland Manufacturing as a seamstress. Mrs. Griffith moved to Ahoskie, North Carolina for Several years, and after marrying her husband Steve, she obtained a degree in drafting at Roanoke-Chowan Community College. Once her and her family moved back to Clay County, she worked in Home Health as a registered CAN for several years. Mrs. Griffith enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, and listening to Southern Gospel and Country music. She was artistic and crafty; she enjoyed making jewelry, traveling with her family, and spending time with her animals. She was a “Nana” to nine grandsons, had a jovial and adventurous personality, and was full of Laughter.
Mrs. Griffith is survived by two daughters: Loretta Shedd of Guntersville and Jeanie Cassell of Cofield, NC; 9 grandsons, and 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ruth Ware of Opelika; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ruben Samuel Johnston and Ruth C. Ingram Johnston; her husband, Steve L. Griffith; one daughter, Denise Baker; and five brothers: Sam, Willis, Sidney, Sylvie, and Ruben Johnston.
Kevin Johnston, Jarrod Henderson, Tim Baker, and Mark Smith will serve as pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland beginning at 10:00 A.M. until service time at 12:00 P.M.
