Ruby Evelyn Posey, age 82, of Cherokee, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, 12-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Eddie Wix officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Posey was a devoted Christian and a member of Crooked Oak Baptist Church. She was a loving wife to Marshall Posey for forty-four years, until his death in 1991. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed gardening and working around her home. She loved gospel music and visiting the Smoky Mountains with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Molly Hogeland; step father, Floyd Hogeland; siblings, Rubert Hogeland, Elbert Hogeland, Inez Parrish and Lilly Wood; great grandson, Owen Thompson.
She is survived by her sons; Larry O. Posey(Linda) Barton, Jerry M. Posey (Reita) Belgreen; sister, Dorothy Murphy, Leighton; grandchildren, Kim Thompson (Kevin) Anniston, Jerad B. Posey, Belgreen, Christy White (Noah), Spruce Pine, Dena Nobles (Mark) Starkville, MS; seven great grandchildren, Madelyn, Macey, Aiden, Caroline, Max, Cate and Jake.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers Sammy Hogeland, Melford Posey, Kevin Thompson, Mark Nobles, Jerad Posey, Noah White, Benny Parish, Dwight Hogeland, Greg Gargis, Jonathan Handley, Ray Smelser, Russell Smelser and Steve Smelser.
