Rual McAuthor Cornelius, 78, of New Hope, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, in Huntsville, AL at the Hospice Center.
Rual was born in Lawrence County, AL to Elmer and Emily Gladys Cornelius on June 18, 1942. He married Joan Martin Cornelius on February 22, 1965. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era and served in the Army. He was awarded the Good Conduct medal, Interior Service Medal, and was awarded as a sharp shooter at range qualifications. He served in Frankfurt, West Germany.
Rual worked 31 years for Dunlop Tire and Rubber company. He retired in 2001.
Rual is preceded in death by father, Elmer Newton Cornelius; mother, Emily Gladys Cornelius; 9 brothers and 2 sisters.
Rual is survived by wife, Joan Cornelius; children, Melissa (Anthony) Anders and Matt Cornelius; sister, Deborah King; grandchildren, Brady Jent and Marissa Causey.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Bremer, Jason Bremer, Daniel, Dale Stone, Jamie Kimbrough, Larry Martin, Chris Martin, Gary James, and Scott Maples.
Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home, Wednesday at 2:00 PM with Bro. Wayne Walls officiating.
Interment will be in the Hayden Cemetery.
