royFuneral service for Roy Maples, Jr. , 75, will be Friday, April 1, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dallas Culver officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Maples died on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at his residence. He was born June 20, 1940, in Lawrence County to Roy Hobert Maples, Sr. and Bertha Montgomery Maples. Roy was a member of a Southern Gospel Quartet called “The Crossmen” from Ypsilanti, Michigan. They travel in 48 of the 50 states spreading the gospel through preaching and song. Roy was a proud father and grandfather to his family. He was a carpenter, race car driver, bus driver, pilot, singer, musician, and songwriter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Robert “Bobby” Lee Maples, and a brother: Willard Maples, and brother-in-law: Delmar Tipper.
