Roy Lee WelchRoy Lee Welch, age 62, of Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Russellville Hospital.

Roy was the ultimate jokester and prankster, always loving to laugh and cut up, but never being embarrassed by anything done to him. He was the original “ice cream man” in Russellville, and later on his brother ran the Ice Cream truck. Even though Roy did not understand football, he was a devoted Alabama Fan, Roll Tide. He loved music and going to dances, and always enjoying himself. The best name he had for himself, was Dad, Papaw Roy, or Pop. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and left them a legacy of love.

The visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Keith Prince. Burial will be at Belgreen Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father, Urcil “Gunnie” Marion Welch; brother, Roger Welch; and brothers-in-law, David Dabo Black, Eddie Nichols, and Bobby Ray Edwards.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Mandi Welch; son, Aaron Welch (wife, Chasity); grandchildren, Brooklin Knox, Joseph Welch, Taylor Welch, Katelyn James, Bradley Taylor, Joe James; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Taylor, Aubrey Taylor, Gunner Wollenzien, soon to arrive, baby boy Ruger Taylor; mother, Becky Clark Welch; sisters, Helen Nichols, Gail “Tee” Edwards, Julie Black; a host of nieces & nephews; and lifelong friends, Ronnie Miller and Eric Rickard.

The pallbearers will be Jesse Edwards, Trent Edwards, Shannon Welch, Terry Welch, Ronnie Miller, Larry Hart, Peanut Welch, and Jonah Fretwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Welch and Taylor Welch.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
