Roy Lee Gober, age 80, of Russellville, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his residence.
Roy proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He served over 40 years as a volunteer firefighter for both Burnout / Halltown and Gravel Hill Fire Departments. He also served as the director of Franklin County Emergency Management for several years until retirement.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 16 years, Wanda Lawler Gober; son, John Gober (Sheree); bonus children, J.T. Lawler (Nadia), Shannon Skidmore (Jason); grandchildren, Jesse Skidmore, Amelia Lawler; brother, Felton Gober (Carolyn); sister, Marcia Day; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Gober; and parents, James & Euple Lynn (Adams) Gober.
The visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Mark McCullar officiating the service. The burial will be at Sparks Chapel Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be William Burcham, Brandon James, Jimmy Berry, Woody Edwards, Jason Skidmore, and Jesse Skidmore.
