Roy Junior Smith, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025, at his home in Mantachie. He was born May 6, 1945, in Fort Payne, Alabama, to Elmer and Eula Mae Frazier Smith. Roy enjoyed his life with his wife of 63 years, Ruby Jane Rusoe Smith. He was a lifelong member of the Mantachie Methodist Church. He was retired from Super Sagless. He enjoyed raising a garden, fishing, and training his dogs. He was well known to many for selling produce and fish. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Mantachie Methodist Church, with Rev. Caleb Holder and Rev. Phillip Carr officiating. Burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Jane Smith; his children, Cathy Pollock (John), Larry Smith, Billy Joe Smith (Janice), Roger Smith (Mary), and Barbara Taylor (Ronald); two brothers, Ray Smith (Annette) and Joe Smith; thirteen grandchildren, Victoria Farquhar, Bartlet Pollock, Bridgett Capps, Matthew Smith, Jeremy Smith, Kellie Hunt, Victoria Eldridge, Seth Smith, Mason Smith, Hannah White, Katelyn Smith, Jorda Hoard, Laken Marie Sanders; eight great grandchildren; numerous other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Smith, Kenny Smith, and Glen Smith; one sister, Carol Jackson; one great grandchild, Ava Hunt; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca “Becky” Jane Smith; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Bartlet Pollock, Justin Farquhar, Seth Smith, Mason Smith, Ben Riley Eldridge, Justin Hunt, Mathew Smith, Malik McAlister.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class and his neighbors and friends.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from noon until service time all at the Mantachie Methodist Church.
