Roy Jack Garner, age 88 of Decherd, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. He was born in Franklin County on February 1, 1934, to the late Jodie and Edith Elora (O’Dear) Garner. Before his retirement, he was employed for thirty-two years by the State of Tennessee Highway Department. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being outside coon and rabbit hunting, as well as watching the Atlanta Braves and Tennessee Volunteers. Jack will be remembered for his kind nature and strong-will. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Garner; son, Lewis Smith; grandchildren, Dwayne Smith, Chad Smith, and Rebecca Smith; four brothers; and five sisters. Jack is survived by his sister, Jean Higgins; loving children, Ricky Garner, Jackie (Sherry) Garner, and Ruth Andrews; grandchildren, Chastity Ellis, Deidre Stevens, Heather Kincannon, Alyshea Garner, Anna Garner, Jennifer Lowry, Jodie Garner, Shawna Clark, Destiny Hill, and Niki Hill; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 22, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
