Mr. Roy D. Montgomery, age 83, passed away on April 12, 2022 at his home in Lexington. He was born May 5, 1938 in Decatur County to the late Voyd and Ruth Creasy Montgomery. He was a retired supervisor of Brown Shoe Company and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He was an avid gardener, but took most pride in raising his family. His family are all members of Sand Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Emma Montgomery; two sons, Kevin Montgomery (Joy) and Ricky Montgomery (Suzye); his daughter, Deanna Montgomery; his grandson, Justin Montgomery; two granddaughters, Jessica Montgomery and Anna Montgomery; four step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; three sisters, Bobbie Moore, Ann Halkiades (Paul), and Norma Jean Oliver; a very special sister-in-law, Betty Boyd; and a great host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Sue Bingham, Marie Chalk, and Martha Bawcum and two brothers, Robert and Hollis Montgomery.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM, Friday, April 15, 2022 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, 1-9 PM and on Friday 10 AM – 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Carl Perkins Center.
