Roy D. Hunt, 96, of Guntersville passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Novella Henderson Hunt, daughter, Charlotte Hunt Flynt, and parents, William H. and Nettie Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was born in DeKalb County, Alabama. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served on the USS Santa Fe in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked in the Astrionics Lab at Marshall Space Flight Center for many years and retired from NASA in 1984. During his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his family and living on the lake.

He is survived by daughters Barbara Hunt Caudle (Herbert) of Guntersville; Burma Hunt Magnusson (James) of Madison; son Trent W. Hunt (Laurie) of Arab; 4 grandchildren, Craig Flynt, Tabatha Gibson, Trevyn Hunt, and Dalton Hunt; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hunt will be cremated, and a memorial service will be announced at a later time.

The family suggests memorial donations to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice of Marshall County, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951.
