Funeral Services for Mr. Roy C. Saxon, age 88 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at County Line Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. T.C. Brown and David Rush officiating. Burial will follow at the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Saxon passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 18, 2026. Roy Saxon was born on November 17, 1937 in Clay County to Richard and Ollie Saxon. He was a hardworking, strong willed family man. He worked for Bennis Co. in Talladega until 1972. In 1972, he started Saxon & Saxon Logging where he worked alongside his sons, Tim and Bud until 2024. He also owned and operated Saxon Farms in Bluff Springs until his death. He believed in long days, doing what’s right, and always helping his community. His driven spirit has been passed down to his family; that was his legacy.
He was a faithful member and deacon of County Line Baptist Church, and he loved being surrounded by the people who meant the most to him. If you knew Roy, you knew he was a mess. He’d often greet you with, “I ain’t seen you since the woods burnt off.” Or, “Me and you big buddies, ain’t we?” He always had a little grin on his face, and there’s no telling what he would say next. More than anything, He loved his family. He never stopped being proud of them. He always had a story to tell or a lesson to share. Some of his favorite memories were riding horses through Cades Cove in Tennessee with his family and friends. All of those stories were apart of him. As we move forward without him, we will carry his love just like he carried us.
Roy is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jane; his three children: Tim, Amanda, and Bud (Wife, Debbie); three grandchildren: Justin (Wife Rebekah), Sydney, and Hannah; 2 great grandchildren: Amelia Jane and Weslee; along with lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard and Ollie Wright Saxon; his four sisters and 5 brothers.
Active Pallbearers will be Justin Saxon, Tim Worthy, Duane Nappier, Jaren Carter, Gary Martin, Shane Mitchell, Jeff Carpenter, and Miller McGill. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of County Line Baptist Church, Reggie Blair, and Reggie Barrett.
His visitation will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at County Line Baptist Church from 4:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. He will lie in state at the church on Friday, February 20, 2026 for one hour beginning at 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
