Roseline D. “Rose” Jenkins, age 87, of Gadsden, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2026, following complications of old age. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born on August 24, 1939, on a farm in Osmond, Nebraska, to Emil and Esther Broeckemeier. She enjoyed many happy years growing up in Osmond as part of a large family of 11 children. Her siblings included Gerald, Glenn, Jim, Donald, Byron, Orville, Phyllis, Marion, Barb, and Judy.
After graduating, Rose moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she attended business school. She later met James W. Tiernan, and the two were married on August 1, 1959. They eventually moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1982, Rose met Duane Noehl and together they moved south to Georgia. In 1988, she married James L. Jenkins, and they later moved to Gadsden, Alabama, where she found the place she would call home for the remainder of her life.
Rose was a devoted and hardworking mother who always took great care of her children. During her years in Cedar Rapids, she worked for Kmart as an assistant manager. She continued working after moving south and later became a rotating lunch lady for Gadsden City Schools. Rose truly loved working in the schools and enjoyed the many children and staff members she came to know throughout the years.
A devout Catholic, Rose loved and supported her church faithfully. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she especially loved her Sunday school teachers and the children in the kindergarten and first-grade classes.
Rose was the mother of four children, Sharon Schultze (Trent) of Cedar Rapids, Eva Noehl (Chris) and her late children, Andy and Jeffrey. She was also a proud grandmother to Gerald (Lisa) Michael (Hanna). One of her favorite “grand-fur babies” was her beloved dog, Chewie. Rosie will be remembered as a kind, loving woman who cared deeply for everyone she met. Her family will miss her more than words can express.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to ACG Hospice, especially Mollie and Laurie, for the wonderful care, kindness, and compassion shown to Rose during the last year of her life.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church in Gadsden. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass officiated by Father Paco. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. James following the burial.
