Rosalyn “Rosalie” Young was a kind, sweet and strong spirit who passed away on March 3, 2019 in her home, after losing her last battle with cancer. She was of the Catholic faith and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She would have been 97 years young within another month.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on April 5, 1922. Her parents were Francis Coyne and Helen (Waters) Coyne, of Philadelphia, PA. Rosalie was married 69 years and devoted her life to being a military wife and mother.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Col. James “Jim” W. Young, Ret., daughter, Barbara “Bobbi” A. Lambrecht; and siblings, Francis “Frank” Coyne, James “Jimmy” Coyne, and Helen Houser. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia “Pattie” Young Rollins (Arthur) of Sautee Nacoochee, GA; five grandchildren, Karen Nyland, Cheryl Strayed, Leif Nyland, James Rollins and Nicholas Rollins; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She and her husband moved to Redstone Arsenal in 1965. They loved Huntsville and decided to retire and spend the remaining years of their lives here. Rosalie seemed happiest when she reminisced about her family and her youthful years spent on the Jersey shore. She loved watching classic movies and was a wealth of information on the subject.
She was thankful for the services of Senior Helpers of Huntsville and the bonding relationships that she has had these past nine years with her caregivers. She will be truly missed and never forgotten.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Father Michael Mac Mahon officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. (www.laughlinservice.com)
