Rosalia Ruth Hollman Eckl, 82, died Saturday August 16, 2014, at her home in St. Florian, AL after an extended illness with Alzheimer’s Disease. Ruth’s last breath was while the whole family was together kneeling saying the Joyful and Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm Monday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday at St. Michael’s with Father Jacob Amos and Father Roy Runkle officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
She was born May 31, 1932, in Loretto, TN to Anthony Henry and Anna Rosa Hollman. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School thru 8th grade. On May 5, 1952, she married the love of her life, Leonard, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Loretto, TN. They shared 62 wonderful years together. Their marriage was an example of prayer and work. She was an example of how to pray, live, share, care and love. Mrs. Eckl was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and Loaves and Fishes.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Anthony Henry Hollman and Anna Rosa Hollander Hollman; brothers, George, Sylvester and Frank Hollman, all of Loretto, TN; sisters, Mary Hollman Kelly, Sheffield, AL and Lorene Hollman Lodge, Franklin, TN.
Survivors are husband, Leonard Clarence Eckl, Florence; sons, Anthony Eckl (Cindy), Ronald Eckl, Alan Eckl (Maria), and Adrian Eckl (Beth), all of Florence; daughters, Patricia Mauter (Joe), Florence, Barbara Cain (Robert), Richmond, KY, Joann Hand (Barry), Chattanooga, TN, and Mary Evelyn Ware (Paul), Powder Springs, GA; 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Brian Mauter, Michael Mauter, John Hand, Luke Eckl, Sean Ware and Peter Eckl. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews; John Gordon, Stephen Gordon, Jerome Evers, Milton Evers, Tommy Evers, Terry Hollman and Fred Kelly.
The family is especially grateful to the wonderful caregivers, Beth Eckl, Susie Landers, LaReis Liles, Pam Stumpe, and Gentiva Hospice for their love, care and support.
