Ronnie Wayne Hobbs, 76, of New Hope, passed away Saturday at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his family. Wayne was born to the late Clarence Harold and Mary Turner Hobbs. He served in the US Army and worked for Parker Hannifin for 28 years before retiring due to complication from cancer. He was a very fun-loving person who loved to play any kind of games and won most of the time. Prior to his surgery for cancer, he enjoyed grilling, bowling, squirrel hunting, riding his dune buggy and taking trips with family and friends. During his later years and due to his limited capacity, he especially enjoyed golfing with his friends, Steve, Harry, and John, riding his golf cart around the neighborhood, shooting his guns, listening to anything by Elvis, NASCAR racing and watching Alabama football. But more than anything, Wayne was a faithful servant and member of Hampton Cove Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and trustee. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Lee Hobbs; brothers, Cebert Hobbs, Larry Hobbs, and Newell F. Hobbs; sisters-in-law, Marie (Joe) Wilbourn, Faye (Marvin) Carlisle, and Linda (Gary) McDaniel and brother-in-law, Junior Lee.
Surviving are step-daughter, Gayla (Tim) Pelcic; step-son, Tim (Paula) Hendrix; step-daughter, Jennifer (Brad) Spivey; grandchildren, Jessie (Kyle) Officer, Connor Pelcic, Ashley (Matt) Mobley, Alex (Audrey) Hendrix, Marissa (Brent) Thornton, and Carson Spivey; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Mason, Karter, Kase, Hadley, Koen, and Nolan; sister, Donnie Jean Honea; sister-in-law, Edna Lee and numerous nieces and nephews.
