Ronald was born on July 23, 1943, in Fayetteville, TN, where he grew up. As a child he loved the outdoors and baseball. Throughout his life all who knew him were entertained by his quick wit and sense of humor. He was married to Dianah LeCroy West. He attended Sanford University, Birmingham, AL. In his early adult life, he was active in Southern Baptist Churches, and he remained loyal to their beliefs and practices throughout his life.

Ron’s love of the outdoors kept him either hunting in the woods, or fishing in the lakes and rivers in his bass boat. In the latter years of his life, he taught himself to cross stitch. He won several best of show and blue ribbons. His work was once featured on a local Nashville TV program. His greatest joys were being Pawpaw to his grandchildren and “that funny man” to other children, and his dog, Daisy.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Albert West and Dollie Mae Gipson West.  His son, Ronald Wayne West, II, his brother Roy Leon West, and sister Betty Moyers.

Left to grieve his passing are his wife of 60 years, Dianah LeCroy West; daughter Amy Elizabeth (Andrew) Elkins, Stafford, VA; grandson, Lieutenant Tory (Karyna) West, US Navy; granddaughters, Brooke Elkins and Hope (Rain) Tavares of Gallatin, TN; great grandsons, Weston Elkins and Stone Tavares; sister Sara Shelton of Fayetteville, TN; and several nieces and nephews and other extended relatives.
