Sergeant Ronald Wayne West. II. Retired. of the Huntsville Police Department. age 52. of Hazel Green. AL. passed away Thursday. May 4. 2017 after a brief illness.
He was born in Fayetteville. TN. the son of Ronald Wayne West. Sr and Dianah (LeCroy) West who survive.
He is also survived by his son, Lieutenant Tory West. US Navy; sister, Elizabeth Elkins of Stafford, VA., nieces, aunts.
He was a graduate of University of North Alabama.
Wayne devoted his career to the service to the people in the City of Huntsville through several areas of police work, including Narcotics, K9, investigative work and his accomplished Burglary and Robbery Squads. He retired with Honor in 2015.
Wayne will be equally remembered by his impact on so many families and sons as he coached and mentored through the sport of baseball, a sport that fed his passion and built an everlasting bond with his son, Tory. Wayne was a shining example of how a father should be to their children, loving and supporting his child and countless other young men through their baseball journeys. His friends and family knew him as a big Chicago Cubs fan, and rejoiced with Wayne that he was able to see his beloved Cubbies win the World Series before his passing.
Visitation for Wayne will be Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Berryhill Funeral Home, North Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, AL. 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with service following at 1:00. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, TN
