Ronald John Sykstus was born on April 7, 1939 in Chicago, IL and passed away on May 4, 2017 in Huntsville, AL. He was the son of Adeline Rekosiewicz (Januskiewicz) and the step-son of Chester Rekosiewicz.
He was a graduate of Lane Tech High School and attended DePaul University. He served as the Executive Director of the American Chemical Society, Chicago Section, for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane Joan (Ghilardi) Sykstus, sister Joan Sykstus Bzdon (Larry Bzdon), brother-in-law Ron Ghilardi and family, cousin Diane Sykstus Pukal and family, his three sons, Ron (Patty), John (Moira), and Bill (Christine) and by eight grandchildren; Jack, Tom, Sam, Alice, Emily, Sarah, Erin and Jennifer.
A private service will be held by the family in the future at the beach to honor Ron’s love of all things Florida.
