Ronald James Salmond, 80, of Athens passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his residence. The graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Moulton Memory Gardens with Roger Dale Craig officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Ronald was a Navy Seabee for four years, he was also a cross country truck driver for many years. Ronald was a very proud father as well as a very proud Papa.

Survivors include his beloved wife Wynell Craig Salmond; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Koszesza (Todd); and Laura Lee Lamb (Danny); one son Michael Ray Hunter (Becky); seven grandchildren Chrissy Hunter, Andrea Barreiro (Jose), Jennifer Hunter, Jessika Hunter (Mike), Tiffany Suther (Shawn), Nathanial Hunter, and Blaine Hunter; eight great grandchildren; Kaylee Hunter, Vivianna Barreiro, Alysia Barreiro, Catalina Barreiro, Adam Luke, Ryker Bellafato, Nathan Bellafato, and Rylin Barreiro; one brother Jack Salmond (Sandy); and one sister Barbara Freathy.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert James Salmond; mother Wilma Waugh Salmond; his brother Earl Salmond and one son Steve Hunter.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family extends special thanks to Southern Care Hospice.
