It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Earl Cobbs (Ronnie), 78 of Vinemont announce that because of God’s grace and the shed blood of Jesus Christ, he is in the presence of his heavenly Father. He passed peacefully at his residence surrounded by family on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Visitation will be held at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. His Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be at the church on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Elder Josh Mason and Elder Heath Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. He will Lie-in-State prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00. Moss Service Funeral Home directing. Ronnie was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was a member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church for 20 years prior to returning to his home church, Gum Pond Primitive Baptist. He was a faithful member and Deacon for many years. Ronnie loved spending time and fellowshipping with other Primitive Baptist church members, he would travel all over to different meetings and made many lifelong friends. He was an excellent basketball player and played for Eva High School where he graduated in 1960. Ronnie was a sheet metal mechanic at Monsanto in Decatur for 33 ½ years prior to retirement. He also owned and operated a poultry farm for 27 years. After retirement he started Cobbs Furniture in Eva and has been in business for 20 years. He was known as a handyman and could literally fix anything. He had several hobbies but his favorite was fishing with his grandchildren. He loved his family and was a wonderful grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with and babysitting his grandchildren. His parents: Earl Whitney Cobbs and Pruddie Nunnley Cobbs preceded him in death along with his siblings: Nelda Nelson, Donald Cobbs, Darrell Cobbs and Steve Cobbs. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Faye Morgan Cobbs; daughter, Carla Beth Cobbs; son and wife, Phillip Earl and Cheri Tidwell Cobbs; granddaughters: Kayla Cobbs Witte, Alexandra Faye Parr and Zonna Mae Parr; grandsons: Elijah Parr and James Earl Cobbs; grandson-in-law, Chris Witte; great grandson, Grayson Witte; sister, Brenda Childers and brother, Delone Cobbs.
