Ronald Dwayne Cothran – Obituary

Mr. Ronald Dwayne Cothran, age 58, husband of Karen Cothran, and a resident of Academy Court in Columbia, passed away Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 2-4PM in the choir room at First Family Baptist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on April 17, 1959 in Maury County, Ron was the son of the late Looney Fulton Cothran and the late Betty Jean Duncan Cothran. He was a member of West 7th Church of Christ and previously worked for the City of Columbia and CSX Railroad. Ron enjoyed coaching baseball and football for many years. He was an avid UT football fan and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

 

In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by his children: Ryan (Courtney) Cothran of Summertown, Adam Bodean Payton of Slidell, LA, Amanda Jo Melton of Morton, IL; brother: William “Bill” Cothran of Columbia; sister: Patsy (Vance) Capley of Columbia; grandchildren: Dalton Gage Payton, Bryar Mckenley Payton, Kaylee Mae Andrews, Sydney Kate Cothran, Asher Dale Cothran; and beloved dog: Zoe.

 

Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother: Freddie Gene Cothran; and granddaughter: Kaylee Jo Melton.

 

The boys that Ron coached over the years will serve as honorary pallbearers.
