Ronald Douglas WoodkeRonald Douglas Woodke, age 84 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at his residence under Hospice care. Mr. Woodke was born October 7, 1934 in Michigan to Gene Cronkright and Isobel Pateman.

Funeral Services for Mr. Woodke will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. David Jones and Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughters, Kiela Christopher (Skip), Kerri Gordon (Tommy), Kaye Curtis (Mike) and Karole Stout; brother, Richard Woodke; grandchildren, Crysten Conner, Maribeth Lirette, Justin Gordon, Emily Gordon, Jenna Miller, Sam Curtis, Peter Curtis, Callie Stout and Sterling Stout; 5 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Woodke.

Mr. Woodke was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and served in the choir. He worked with the youth group, taught Sunday School and drove the church bus. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles, United Way of Limestone County and the Shirts and Skirts Square Dance Club. He was a bookkeeper for the Limestone Baptist Association. He taught physics at Calhoun Community College, UAH and Hartselle High School. He was an ambassador for Jesus Christ and the best dad 4 girls could ask for. He was also an Air Force Veteran, a master’s Graduate from Auburn University and worked as an Engineer at Saginaw Steering Gear for 36 years.

Pallbearers are Sam Curtis, Justin Gordon, Peter Curtis, Tim Stout, Jed Lirette, Rann Gordon, Sterling Stout, Skip Christopher and Tommy Gordon. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Curtis, Darren Woodke, Chandler Martin, Asher Lirette and Eric Miller.
